THE HOLE
NOTTINGHAM’S NEW MAN BAR
Nottingham is getting a new bar, but with a difference; it’s for men only. THE HOLE opened on Thursday 24th May to a
packed crowd of sexy blokes, and offered an altogether darker feel to the evening. With plenty of drink and a spread of free food,
the night was enjoyed by all. Aimed at the slightly older crowd, this bar boasts to encourage you to explore your darker side.
We took a moment to talk to the manager, Steve Elliott, to find out more.
Why a ‘men only’ bar?
“There is already a great deal of diversity on the Nottingham scene, but for me, it lacked the buzz and charged atmosphere that only a
man bar can offer. Having frequented many, bars in London and Europe, I wanted to bring a taste of that to the Midlands.”
So would you describe THE HOLE as a cruise bar?
“Yes, it is the perfect environment for blokes to hang out and meet other horny blokes - but I’d like to make it clear that it is
not a sex bar, and there will be no darkroom. We are simply providing that ‘buzz’ I mentioned. ”
How will you tackle comments about the ‘men only’ aspect of the bar?
“There are already a few ‘men only’ and ‘ladies nights’ on the scene here. All of which, are successful and enjoy a good reputation.
THE HOLE simply takes this to the next level, offering a more focused environment for the guys, and a chance to develop
it through various themed nights, and even introduce dress codes.”
So what do you have planned for THE HOLE?
“We have a number of nights up our sleeve, the first of which is a dress code night called ‘GEAR’, which is your opportunity to
wear whatever gear you’re into. You can check our website for all the dates and details. We will also be hosting a couple
of events for the ‘GRIZZLY BEAR WEEKEND’, Nottingham’s first ever bear weekend, starting Friday 27th - 29th July;
details on that are at www.grizzly-nottingham.co.uk. Beyond that, you’ll have to wait and see.”
THE HOLE is situated above Niche (entrance on Convent Street); one of Nottingham’s leading gay bars www.niche-bar.com.
So if you’re a bear or a skinhead, into leather or football kit, or just a man who likes to be in the company of other men,
make sure you try out THE HOLE.
Opening times are Thursday & Sunday 7pm – midnight, Friday & Saturday 7pm - 2am. No Door charge.
